D’Amonti Batton-Jackson was born in Peoria, Illinois and raised in St.Louis, Missouri. ┬áD’Amonti graduated from Illinois Central College with his Associates of Arts, majoring in General Mass Communications in 2015. He currently is a Mass Communication’s major (Corporate & Institutional Media) and Black Studies minor at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. In addition, D’Amonti is one of the co-founders of the organization “Sankofa” of SIUE, which is an organization aimed at education of African American contributions and community engagement. Aside from academia, D’Amonti enjoys writing poetry, traveling, excising and meeting new people.

Kiah Earl was born and raised in Moline, Illinois. She attended Moline High School and graduated in 2011. Upon graduation, she attended Black Hawk College where she received her Associate of Art’s in 2014. She is currently a student at SIUe where she majors in both Mass Communications and English, and minors in Black Studies and Applied Communication Studies. Kiah also writes for The Alestle and serves as an Campus Activities Board Chair.
